One day I was taking out a large bag of trash to dump into our trash bin. When I reached the bin I became aware that this bag was way to heavy for me to heave it into the bin by myself. I tried, and only got it half way up.
Suddenly, there was a man right at my side, who lifted the bag effortlessly into the bin for me. He said, "Why didn't you call me?" I thought to myself, "How could I call you? I didn't see you, and I don't know who you are." As I turned to see which way he was walking, he was gone! I looked all around the area, and there was no sign of him. I thought about the incident all day.
When I returned home later in the day, I sat down on the sofa and my eyes fell upon a ceramic dish that I had on my coffee table. "For He shall give His Angels charge over thee (Psalm 91:10-12)." I stared at the words on this dish, and I thought, "Could this man, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere, been an Angel?
I will never know for sure, but the Bible says that these ministering spirits sent by God are all around us. How many times have they intervened in our lives, and we thought that it was another human being rescuing us? And how many times have they saved us from certain calamities, unseen in their spirit realm?
God, in His infinite love and mercy, has sent us mighty warriors, who are all around us...protecting and guiding His children as we walk through the perils of this life.
And yes, they even help us to lift those burdens that are too heavy for us to manage alone.
"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Hebrews 13:2
